Captain Louis McMichael is the heart behind Lowcountry Offshore Fishing, bringing over two decades of hands-on experience to every trip. Raised fishing the waters around Charleston, he’s built a reputation as one of the area's most knowledgeable and approachable offshore guides. His calm, patient demeanor and deep understanding of local fisheries make him a favorite among both new anglers and seasoned pros. Whether you’re targeting fast-moving pelagics or deep-reef bottom species, Captain Louis knows exactly where to go—and when to go there.
What sets Captain Louis apart is not just his skill, but his enthusiasm. He genuinely loves what he does, and it shows in every aspect of your day on the water. He’s especially known for targeting mahi-mahi, amberjack, kingfish, and tuna, and he’s quick to adapt to changing conditions to give his guests the best chance of success. He takes time to teach, share tips, and help you improve your technique, making the experience enjoyable, educational, and productive—no pressure, just good fishing with a knowledgeable guide who knows these waters inside and out.
With years spent exploring Charleston’s offshore reefs, wrecks, and bluewater ledges, Captain Louis brings a wealth of insight into both trolling and bottom fishing. He has a particular talent for locating snapper, grouper, and triggerfish in deeper water, and he’s constantly dialed in to seasonal fish movement, bait patterns, and weather shifts. His approach is grounded in experience but flexible, always focused on putting guests in the right spot with the right gear for the right fish.
